Summit County has been selected for up to $500,000 through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Job Training Program.

The funding will support the Summit County Brownfields Workforce Initiative, aimed at training residents for environmental cleanup and redevelopment careers. The program plans to train up to 40 residents and place at least 30 participants into related jobs.

The initiative will prioritize residents from communities impacted by brownfield sites, along with veterans and justice-impacted individuals.

Program launch details are expected to be announced soon.
