Tickets are officially on sale for one of Akron’s biggest summer events, the annual Props and Pistons Festival.
The family-friendly air and auto show returns August 15 and 16 at Akron-Fulton Airport, and this year comes with a major highlight.
The United States Air Force F-16 Viper Demo Team will take to the skies, making Akron one of just 23 airshows across North America selected to host the elite team in 2026.
Organizers say the high-speed aerial performance will be a centerpiece of an already action-packed weekend.
The festival, hosted by Akron-Fulton Airport and Inspire Aviation, blends aviation, education, and family fun. Visitors can expect:
Aerobatic flight demonstrations:
– Historic aircraft displays
– Warbird and biplane rides
– Helicopter flights
– A classic car show
There’s also a strong focus on hands-on learning, with STEM activities, free flight simulators, and interactive exhibits designed to inspire kids and adults alike.
Last year, the festival also hosted the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Fly-In, expanding its reach as a regional aviation destination.
Organizers say the goal is simple: give people a chance to experience aviation up close, and maybe spark a future passion.
