Wadsworth Grizzly pawThe Wadsworth Girls Soccer team is on a post-season roll.

In the Brunswick Sectional Finals, the seventh seeded Lady Grizzlies defeated fourth-seeded Green 1-0 to advance to the district semi-finals.

Junior Mariah Braman scored the only goal of the game off an assist from sophomore Emily Arellano. The goal was scored in the first half. There was no scoring in the second half.

In the game, Wadsworth outshot Green 6-3, and led in corner kicks 2-1. Wadsworth’s freshman goalkeeper Jordan Barnhart had three saves in the game.

This was the second meeting between Wadsworth and Green this season. The teams played to a tie back in August.

The road doesn’t get any easier for Wadsworth. In the Brunswick District semi-finals, the Lady Grizzlies take on Medina. The Bees are ranked second in Division One in the state of Ohio and have an overall record of 14-0-3. In their first tournament game, Medina defeated Akron Firestone 10-0.

Wadsworth is now 5-10-3 on the season.

The Wadsworth-Medina game will be played on Tuesday October 27th at 7 pm at Medina High School.
