Valley CafeValley Café in downtown Wadsworth will soon be offering guests a casual fine dining experience several nights a week. The restaurant has applied for a beer and wine license so they can pair a specialty menu with craft brews and wines.

“We’ll close at 3 p.m. and still do what we normally do seven days a week for breakfast and lunch. Then, we’ll reset the entire restaurant with linen table cloths, it will feel and look different,” explains owner Nicole Mikoda. “The menu will be small, one-page, very chef-driven, with three or four appetizers, two salads, three to four entrees and a few desserts. The menu will change regularly.”

The plan is to open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings around Thanksgiving time. Their first menu has veal and scallops as options, along with a pair of salads and desserts, but that could change as they approach the date.

“We’ll probably do something like a BYOB or a corkage fee if we don’t get the licenses. But we’d really like to be able to serve beer and wine ourselves because when you have beautiful braised short ribs and you have the wine we paired to go with it, you just feel like you’re having a great night out on the town. It gives guests a great experience.”

Valley Café expects to soon find out if they have been approved by Wadsworth City Council for the permits. The State of Ohio has already given the green light. A few surrounding places, such as nearby churches and the library, have an option to weigh in on the decision.
