wadsworth dog parkResidents of Wadsworth have been chomping at the bit to get inside the Wadsworth dog park and let their pooches play. And this weekend, they will get to do just that.

Dog park organizer Roni Leatherman says a ribbon cutting/grand opening for the city’s first dog park will be Saturday, Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. inside Valley View Park (618 West Street).

Over the weekend, the entrance gates arrived and organizers installed them — the final piece to enclose the three-acre property for pooches.

The dog park is divided into two sections: an area for small dogs and a larger area for big dogs. Both sides are complete with doggy waste stations, water fountains and benches.

Dog park rules are also posted on site.

Mother Nature and back-ordered gates caused the delay in opening the park.
