The Wadsworth High School girls basketball team is officially sitting at the top of the rankings.
According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s newly released MaxPreps Ratings Percentage Index, Wadsworth is ranked number one in the Div. I Northeast District for the 2025–26 season. The RPI rankings, which are now live on the OHSAA website, update daily as final scores are entered into the MaxPreps system.
The RPI plays a major role in postseason basketball, as it is used to determine seeding for the OHSAA tournament. This season marks the third year the RPI system has been used for both girls and boys basketball statewide.
The formula behind the rankings is based on three factors:
– 40 percent winning percentage
– 40 percent opponents’ winning percentage
– 20 percent opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage
That structure rewards not only wins, but also strength of schedule, making Wadsworth’s top spot a reflection of consistent performance against competitive opponents.
Girls basketball tournament draws for Division I and II will take place on Feb. 15. Final RPI data will be published the following day.
With postseason play approaching, the number-one ranking puts Wadsworth in strong position heading into tournament seeding, and gives Grizzlies fans even more reason to be excited about the weeks ahead.
