Wadsworth Patrol Officer Dakota Lamielle has been awarded ‘Officer of the Year’ 2023.

Officer Lamielle had an active year with self-initiated activity that led to many successful criminal investigations. He led the department in felony arrests and overall arrests, which helped to make our city a safer place to be. Officer Lamielle looked beyond his initial interactions to locate warrant subjects and stolen vehicles, and often made felony drug seizures along the way.

Not only did Officer Lamielle find success in his patrol work, but he attended Field Training School in 2023 and became a certified FTO. He was able to serve in his new role as a field training officer and as a mentor for his younger shift mates during the year. He often took extra time to share his knowledge and assist newer officers with their investigative techniques. His attitude and self-motivated habits helped to promote a productive and positive culture on second shift and within the department.

Officer Lamielle’s hard work and investigative skills led to him being selected to join the Detective Bureau in 2024. He was also selected to become a new Evidence Technician for the department and assist with the property room.

Officer Lamielle was selected as Officer of the Month for January and July of 2023. He received the majority number of votes from the WPD officers and supervisors for the Officer of the Year Award.

Congratulations to Officer Lamielle, and thank you for your continued service to Wadsworth!
