State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) announced significant funding for the Wadsworth Police Department to help reduce violent crime throughout the community. The funding stems from the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.

The Wadsworth Police Department is set to receive $237,956 through the grant program.

The program funding will help the department in recruiting new officers, maintaining staffing levels and providing various assistance to prevent violent crime.

“I was proud to support this grant program through legislation at the Statehouse to help reduce crime here in Wadsworth and keep our communities and residents safe,” Ray said.

Ray supported House Bill 110, the state operating budget, which is funding the program to assist local law enforcement in finding solutions to reduce violent crime.

Overall, the program will be awarding a total of $58 million across the state. This most recent round of funding awarded $5.7 million to 16 local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Wadsworth Police Department.
