It’s primary election day in Medina County. The polls will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.
There is one county-wide issue on the ballot. Issue 10 asks voters to decide on an eight-tenths of one-mill levy for social services. Among the agencies that would be helped by passage of the levy include the Medina County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board, the Medina County Department of Jobs and Family Services and the Medina County Office for Older Adults. The measure would raise $19 million over the next five years.
In the city of Wadsworth, there are two contested races on the ballot in the Republican Primary. In the race for Wadsworth City Council President, incumbent Thomas Palecek is opposed by Susan Hanlon. In Ward Two incumbent Robert Titus is opposed by Rick Ott.
Voters in the Republican Primary in Wadsworth’s Ward One will see Beth Workman’s name on the ballot. But, the candidate withdrew her name last month according to the Medina County Board of Elections. Incumbent Ralph Copley is seeking re-election in Ward One.
There’s an issue on the ballot in Wadsworth Township in today’s election. The Township is asking voters to approve a 3-mill levy for fire and EMS Services. The measure would cost the owner of a $100,000 home in Wadsworth Township an additional $105 in taxes.
Also on the ballot in Wadsworth for voters in Ward 3, Precinct B is a proposal to allow Sunday liquor sales at American Legion Post 170 located at 125 Main Street.
