Ohio is awarding more than $110 million in state support for 13 mixed-use development projects expected to generate about $1.3 billion in new investment across the state.
Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development Director announced the funding through the fifth round of the Transformational Mixed-Use Development Program. The projects span 10 communities and are expected to create more than $318 million in new payroll.
Plans include redeveloping Cincinnati’s 4th and Walnut Center, converting vacant office space in Cleveland’s Atrium I building into housing and other uses, expanding Dublin’s Bridge Park, and creating a 22-acre lakefront district in Sandusky.
The program supports projects that combine uses such as housing, retail, offices, recreation, hotels and hospitality. Funding can be used for new construction or to renovate vacant buildings.
State officials say the projects are designed to create new housing and business opportunities while helping communities attract additional private investment.
During the first four rounds of the program, Ohio awarded $400 million to 49 projects in 31 communities, leading to an estimated $8.3 billion in investments statewide.
