WHSsportsCollageThe 2014-15 athletic year at Wadsworth High School was one that not only students but residents of the city can take great pride in.
There were Suburban League Champions, teams that competed for District, Regional and State Championships. There were student-athletes that won individual honors.

Among the teams that had enjoyed a great deal of success were:

FOOTBALL – Head Coach Greg Dennison’s team qualified for the State Division One, Region One Playoffs. The Grizzlies were seeded 11th for the playoffs with a regular season mark of 7-3. Wadsworth lost in the first round of the playoffs to Austintown-Fitch.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY – Head Coach John Burton’s team won the Suburban League Championship, the first time since 2001. Junior Jon Bach qualified for the State Championship and finished 44th out of 142 runners.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY – Finished fourth in the Suburban League Championship. Lindsey Leatherman finished second in the League meet.

VOLLEYBALL – Had a record of 17-11. Won the Barberton District, but lost to Jackson in the Regional Finals at Hudson. Jodi Johnson was honorable mention all-state.

WRESTLING – Head Coach John Gramuglia won the Suburban League Title AGAIN. The team finished fifth in the State Tournament in Columbus with five placers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL – Head Coach Andy Booth led the Lady Grizzlies to another Suburban League Championship. Lost to Toledo Mount Notre Dame in the Regional Finals.

BASEBALL – Had a 27-1 record. Won the Suburban League Championship for a second consecutive year. Lost to Walsh Jesuit in the Hudson District finals. Finished second in the Statewide Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Poll.

SOFTBALL – Coach Michelle DeAngelis led her team into district play before losing to Walsh Jesuit. The Lady Grizzlies had a 16-11 record and finished third in the Suburban League.

BOYS TENNIS – Had a 10-4 regular season record and finished third in the Suburban League Championships.

BOYS TRACK – Won the Suburban League Meet and the Nordonia District Championship in Division One under the direction of Head Coach DJ Schrock. Sent three athletes to the State Meet.

GYMNASTICS – Suburban League Champions.
