School has been canceled for a second day in Norton and Barberton due to a water main break.
Officials say a 24-inch water main that feeds from Barberton’s water treatment plant ruptured the evening of April 19. This type of rupture could cause negative pressure which could lead to potential backflow occurrences.
Kenmore Construction Company is working to make the emergency repairs.
A precautionary boil alert is in effect until further notice.
– Boil water for at least one minute and let is cool before using, or use bottled water.
– Use the boiled water for drinking, teeth brushing, making ice, cooking and doing dishes.
Boiling water kills bacteria and organisms in the water.
