Wadsworth Community Radio

On Sunday October 15th, Wadsworth High School Wrestling Coach John Gramuglia was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place in Dublin, Ohio.

Coach G (as he is affectionately known as) was honored for that impact he has had on the sport of wrestling and in his community.

And what an impact Coach Gramuglia has had on Wadsworth, specifically in three areas.
First, he has been Wrestling Coach at Wadsworth High School for 33 years. His record in that time is 356-74-1. He has won 25 straight Suburban League Championships. In the 21st Century, Wadsworth has had 15 Top 10 finishes at the State Meet and has finished in the top 5 in two of the last three years. Plus, the Grizzlies won the state championship in 2010.

Secondly on his wrestlers. In those 33 years, Coach G has produced 133 state qualifiers, 85 state placers, 36 state finalists, 15 state champions and has sent individuals to the state meet in 32 consecutive seasons.

Thirdly on the Wadsworth Community. Coach Gramuglia has a team-first atmosphere surrounding the program. It’s more than just teaching wrestling technique. Coach G makes everyone feel welcome. While he may demand a lot from his wrestlers, Coach Gramuglia shows caring for his young men and their families, even when they are done wrestling.

Congratulations to Wadsworth High School Wrestling Coach John Gramuglia on his induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
