Congressman Jim Renacci visits Wadsworth Community Radio, talks to WHS students – Wadsworth Community Radio

Wadsworth Community Radio

Tom Queen and Jim RenacciIt was a busy Friday for Congressman Jim Renacci in his hometown.

After appearing live in studio here at Wadsworth Community Radio, Congressman Renacci spent the rest of his morning speaking to and talking with students at Wadsworth High School.

Students in Government classes at Wadsworth High School got to ask questions of the Congressman. And Renacci was able to tell them what it’s like to serve in Congress.

The visit by Congressman Renacci is part of his “Visions for the Future” program. Renacci told us that his talking with High School students began when he was elected in 2010.

Among the questions Congressman Renacci asked students was how interested in the 2016 Presidential race they are. By a show of colored cards (green, yes; red, no) an overwhelming majority of students said that they had watched at least one of the Presidential debates.

Congressman Renacci reminded the students that if they vote in the upcoming Presidential Election, that they will influence 9 or 10 of their friends to do the same.

When the Congressman asked students if they thought the American Dream is still alive, the majority showed their green cards. “I’m glad to see that. Its good to know that you believe that because you have to. That’s very important. The American Dream is something that we have to continue to believe is still available”.

Questions the students asked covered a wide range of topics, including gun control, Obamacare, legalization of marijuana, protecting personal freedoms and Donald Trump.
