Members of Wadsworth City Council are still considering a measure that would permit the sale of beer and wine at certain events in the Downtown area. At last week’s Council meeting, members decided to place the issue on third reading. That will allow residents another week if they wish to make any comments on the proposal.
Downtown Wadsworth Inc. is asking for the measure to allow for the sale of beer and wine at events such as the July Third Fireworks display, the Taste of Wadsworth celebration and a new “Oktoberfest-themed” event. A liquor permit would still have to be obtained even if the Council measure is approved. Plus, those beverages would have to be consumed in a restricted area.
Wadsworth City Council will look at the measure again at its next meeting on Tuesday, May 19.
