Portions of Ohio are under a flood watch through the weekend.
Medina and Summit counties, along with other areas of northern Ohio, are under the flood watch through 4 p.m. Sunday.
The recent thaw is causing ice breakups along area rivers which could cause ice jams and result in flooding.
The still frozen Lake Erie will be a barrier to any ice trying to make its way downstream for rivers and creeks that flow north.
With rain forecasted Friday and some of Saturday, river levels could rise abruptly. Flooding associated with ice jams is often worst immediately upstream of the jam location. If you live along or near rivers prone to ice jams. Be prepared to act quickly.
