baseballIt was the opening game of the season for both the Wadsworth Baseball and Softball teams. Both teams started the season off with victories.

On the baseball diamond, the Grizzlies rallied from a 5-1 deficit to beat Stow 13-6. Wadsworth scored 3 in the fourth, 5 in the fifth and four more in the sixth to win the game. Senior Chris Byers pitched 6 innings to get the win. Junior pitcher Jacob Kries earned a save. Wadsworth had 13 hits in the game and committed three errors.

In softball action, Wadsworth shutout Stow 1-0. The Lady Grizzlies scored a single run in the second inning and made it stand-up. Wadsworth had the offense working as they pounded out 10 hits. Junior Kim Crookston pitched all seven innings, allowed only three hits and got the win. The offensive star for Wadsworth was freshman Madison Long who had a single and scored the only run.

In Boys tennis, the season did not start well for Coach Christa Halicki’s team as Copley shutout Wadsworth 5-0.

In Girls track, Stow defeated Wadsworth 75-62. The girls team is 0-1.
