Wadsworth baseball 2015 SLIDERThe Wadsworth Varsity Baseball team has taken another step up in the weekly Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Poll.

The Grizzlies are second in this week’s poll of Div. I schools. Last week, Wadsworth was fourth. This week, the Grizzlies trail only Cincinnati Moeller in the poll. The Grizzlies received nine first place votes and racked up 223 points. Moeller received 19 first place votes in getting 269 points, Wadsworth’s record on the season is 25-0. Moeller’s record is 22-3.

The Grizzlies have made steady progress in the five week’s that the Coaches Poll has been conducted. Wadsworth has moved from 23rd to 7th, two weeks at number 4 and now to number 2.

Walsh Jesuit is in third this week. The Warriors are 23-3 and captured one first-place vote in this week’s poll. Walsh registered 197 points this week. Lakota West is fourth with an overall record of 22-4. Lakota has 180 points.

The Grizzlies have a big task ahead of them if they want to come out of the Hudson District. All four teams in the district are rated in the top 13 in this week’s Coaches Association Poll.

Tuesday’s district semi-final game at Hudson High School. Wadsworth will take on Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School at 7 o’clock Tuesday night. The Bees are ranked 13th in this week’s state poll and have an overall record of 2105. Brecksville’s record is 21-5.

On the other side of the bracket, Walsh Jesuit will take on Hudson, which is ranked 11th in the state. The Explorers’ overall record is 21-5. Walsh and Hudson meet Tuesday afternoon at 4:30.
