wadsworth batting helmetThe Wadsworth Grizzlies baseball team has reached one of their pre-season goals. The Grizzlies own at least a share of the Suburban League baseball championship.

On Tuesday, Wadsworth defeated Copley 6-1 on the Indians’ home field to improve their Suburban League record to 11-0 and their overall record to 19-0. The Grizzlies have a three-game lead over Copley with three games to play.

There were plenty of heroes in the game for Wadsworth. Senior pitcher Nick Bebout allowed only one run on four hits to improve his record to 7-0. Bebout walked none. struck out 7 and had an RBI single in the seventh to put the icing on the cake.

Senior shortstop Riley Campbell had a big game. He had a single, drew two walks, was ht by a pitch, scored two runs and stole two bases. Senior Dylan Palidar contributed a single and a double. He scored a run and drove in another.

The same teams play again this afternoon at Wadsworth High School. First pitch is set for 4:30. A victory by the Grizzlies will wrap up the Suburban League title.

In the latest Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Poll, the grizzlies are ranked 4th in Division One. Cincinnati Moeller is first, Walsh Jesuit is second and Perrysburg is third.
