Baseball is officially back in Cleveland, and the Guardians are going all out for Opening Day.

The team has announced a full lineup of festivities for the home opener on April 3 at Progressive Field, when the Guardians take on the Chicago Cubs. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m., with pregame ceremonies starting at 3:30.

This year’s opener is especially meaningful, it marks the 33rd home opener at Progressive Field and the 125th anniversary of Cleveland baseball. The celebration will center around “Unforgettable Moments,” honoring the players, fans, and milestones that have shaped the franchise over the years.

One of the biggest highlights: Cleveland Heights native and Olympic gold medalist Laila Edwards will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Edwards made history at the 2026 Winter Olympics as the first Black woman to play for Team USA in Olympic hockey.

Music will also take center stage, with Akron native and O.A.R. trumpeter Jon Lampley performing the National Anthem, “God Bless America,” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

Fans can also expect a military flyover featuring four F-16s from the 180th Fighter Wing, along with a presentation of colors and a large American flag held on the field.

To mark the team’s 125th anniversary, longtime season ticket holders will help raise the AL Central Champions flag, some of whom have supported the team for decades.

Outside the stadium, the celebration starts early. Fans can enjoy entertainment on Gateway Plaza, including face painting, airbrush art, and photo opportunities. Once gates open, a live DJ will be spinning music in the Right Field District.

The team is also reminding fans to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel, as heavy traffic is expected for the home opener.
