Downtown Wadsworth SLIDEROfficials from the Heritage Ohio Foundation will be touring downtown Wadsworth Thursday to determine if the city should be recognized as a Main Street community.

If it’s chosen to become one, the door would be open for Wadsworth to get the funding it needs to preserve and revitalize the downtown area through grants, training and access to over 2,800 Main Street communities.

Members will meet with Wadsworth city officials, building owners and stakeholders in downtown to determine if the area qualifies. Then, the city waits about two weeks to find out.

There are 30 Main Street communities in Ohio. The only one in Medina County is Medina. The other closest Main Street city is Wooster.
