c9331The Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies won their fifth consecutive game as they defeated North Royalton 48-24 Wednesday night at Wadsworth High School.

Wadsworth started off quickly in the first quarter. Senior Jodi Johnson scored the first two points in the game for the Lady Grizzlies. Sophomore guard Sophia Fortner followed it up with a three-pointer. It was 5-0 in favor of Wadsworth with just one minute played in the game. At the end of the first quarter Wadsworth had a 16-8 lead.

Wadsworth extended the lead in the second quarter to a 32-12 lead.

While the Lady Grizzlies scored only 16 points total in the third and fourth quarters, it gave Wadsworth head coach Andrew Booth the chance to play some of the younger players on the roster.

Jodi Johnson led the Grizzlies in scoring with 16 points, Sophia Fortner had 7 points and Jenna Johnson had 6. In all, nine players scored for the Lady Grizzlies.

For North Royalton, Gabby White led the way with 6 points. North Royalton is 2-4 overall, 1-3 in the Suburban League.

Wadsworth, 3-0 in the Suburban League, will be back in action on Saturday night when they play at Twinsburg. Tip off for the varsity game will be at 7:30 pm.
