DA GRIZZThe Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies basketball team jumped out to a big first quarter lead and coasted home as they defeated the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers 60-14 Wednesday night at the Wadsworth High School Gym.

The game was broadcast on 97.1/FM, Wadsworth Community Radio.

With the victory, Wadsworth improves to 9-0 in the Suburban League and 15-1 overall. The Lady Grizzlies are ranked Number one in the latest Ohio Associated Press Girls High School Basketball Poll for Division One. It’s the second consecutive week that Wadsworth has been atop the statewide poll.

The Lady Grizzlies jumped out to a 19-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Jodi Johnson had 7 points and Lexi Lance 6 to lead Wadsworth.

In the second quarter, Wadsworth outscored the Falls 16-4 to open up a 35-6 lead.
Wadsworth head coach Andrew Booth turned to the bench in the second half as all 14 players got time on the floor.

Johnson led the Lady Grizzlies with 13 points. Lance and Sophia Fortner had 10 points apiece. For Cuyahoga Falls, Emma Freeman led the way with 4 points.

Wadsworth is back in action Saturday afternoon when they take on North Royalton on the Bears home floor. Game time for the varsity contest is at 2:30.
