medina county new shelter, sevilleAnimals at the Medina County SPCA will soon be calling a new place home. The shelter raised enough money to buy the 13,000 square foot property in Seville with a state-of-the-art kennel. In three months, donations of more than $400,000 came in to make the dream a reality.

“We are hoping to give a more comfortable, safer, healthier environment for the animals we do have than analyze what our maximum capacity is,” explained Shannon Waller, executive director at the shelter.

The move means all of the shelter’s animals can be together at one property, including the horses which currently stay at a property off site.

“Thank you Medina County and from beyond. We’ve had donations for this capital campaign from outside the state. We are so grateful for the people who came together and made this happen for the animals. It will save lives.”

The Medina County SPCA closes on the deal on Oct. 26. They still need around $140,000 for repairs, including a barn that needs $75,000 in upgrades. If you are interested in donating to the Medina County SPCA — or interested in adopting/sponsoring an animal — you can get more information here: http://medinacountyspca.com/.

Currently, the Medina County SPCA is located in Medina on South Medina Street.
