METRO Regional Transit Authority is expanding its METRO NEXT pilot program to improve transit access for residents across Summit County who do not live near traditional bus routes.

METRO NEXT allows riders to schedule trips in advance by phone or through a mobile app, providing flexible transportation that connects passengers to METRO’s fixed-route bus system.

The service operates weekdays from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is designed to help residents in northern, southern, eastern and western parts of Summit County reach jobs, appointments and other destinations.

Trips within the service zone cost $5 for rides up to 9.99 miles, with the option to transfer to METRO’s regular bus routes.

METRO officials say the expansion reflects a continued effort to make public transit more accessible throughout the county. The METRO NEXT pilot program has also been extended through 2026, when it will be reevaluated based on service performance and community needs.

More information about the service is available at yourmetrobus.org/NEXT.
