Ohio State fans can soon celebrate Buckeye pride in a whole new way, with a bobblehead that actually plays the school song.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum announced it will unveil an officially licensed Ohio State Buckeyes School Song Bobblehead on Jan. 7, in honor of National Bobblehead Day. The special edition bobblehead features Brutus Buckeye and plays the iconic “Buckeye Battle Cry” at the push of a button.
Each bobblehead is individually numbered to just 1,919 units, marking the year the fight song was adopted. The figure stands on a scarlet-and-gray base that reads “OHIO STATE,” includes the OSU logo, and even has “GO BUCKEYES!” on the back. Brutus is shown wearing his classic striped sweater and flashing the No. 1 sign.
“We’re excited to unveil this bobblehead featuring the ‘Buckeye Battle Cry,’ Ohio State’s school song,” said Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the museum. “This bobblehead is sure to be popular among Ohio State Buckeyes fans who want to hear the school song at the push of a button.”
The bobbleheads cost $40, plus a flat $8 shipping fee, and are expected to ship in March. They’re available now through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s website.
Sklar says audio bobbleheads are still relatively rare, which makes this release stand out, especially since “Buckeye Battle Cry” is one of the most recognizable school songs in the country. First sung at games in 1919, the song remains a central part of Ohio State traditions, from touchdowns to the famous Script Ohio.
“We hope it brings a smile to fans’ faces,” Sklar said. “This is the kind of bobblehead that gets passed down and pressed again and again by future generations of Buckeyes.”
