The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will begin using the state’s digital message boards to raise awareness.
The boards will rotate between the year-to-date number of traffic deaths and traffic safety messages.
Ohio has recorded 76 more traffic deaths this year (434, up 16% from 2014) than the same time period one year ago.
The departments hope using the message boards to show the information will change driver behavior and reverse the trend.
