Wadsworth Grizzly pawThis year’s Wadsworth High School Volleyball team is looking to build off the success they achieved last season.

In 2014, Wadsworth reached the Division One Regional Finals before seeing their season end with a loss to Jackson High School. Their final record last year was 16-11.

The goals this season are simple, win the Suburban League Championship and make a deep run in the State Tournament. If that run concludes with a trip to Columbus, all the better.

Head Coach Jill Klingbiel is back for her sixth season in leading the Grizzlies. She’s excited about this year’s team. “We have seven girls coming back from last year’s team. That’s huge. The two newcomers that we have are pretty solid players. Plus with our senior leadership, the outlook for the season is pretty good”.

Leading the Grizzlies on the court this season will by the Johnson sisters. Jenna will play the backline as the Libero and Jodi will be on the front line as an outside hitter.

Jodi says “I’m looking forward to making memories with this year’s team”. Jenna says that “I enjoy being with the team and I hope we can win every match. We’re going to work hard and get better. My goal is to win the state championship”.

The schedule for the Lady Grizzlies will not be easy this year. “North Royalton and Hudson are very good teams”, said Coach Klingbiel. “Plus, we play Brunswick, Amherst and are in the Magnificat Showcase Tournament. Our schedule is challenging”.

The first regular season match for the Lady Grizzlies will be on Saturday August 22nd against Mentor at 11 am in the Main Gymnasium of Wadsworth High School.
