school suppliesWadsworth has welcomed its new leaders to the Salvation Army. Lt. Mark and Beth Baggs are from Mount Vernon and Wadsworth is their first assignment out of training.

While it may seem a bit early to think about, their first order of business is getting kids in need signed up for their huge back to school giveaway in August.

“We want to empower people and help them to have the dignity they need. And their children too,” said Lt. Mark Baggs. “No child wants to go to school and not have what they need and everyone else does. They want to have the right school supplies. That’s why it’s important we get their teacher list for supplies.”

Sign ups are from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on July 8 at the Wadsworth Salvation Army (527 College Street). Eligibility is based on income and expenses.

Wadsworth’s Salvation Army expects to give away at least 300 bookbags filled with school supplies on Aug. 12.
