The 6th annual Grizzly Gobble is next month! It’s an annual Thanksgiving morning youth flag football tradition that began in 2018 when then 9-year-old Jacob Hoesel’s passion for football met his desire to help others and make a difference in his community.

His non-profit organization of choice was Project Outrun which just earlier that year had started their mission. Thanksgiving morning seemed to be a perfect opportunity to gather a group of young men and ladies to begin the season of gratitude and giving. To date, the event has raised more than $10,000 for Project Outrun.

Project Outrun is a non-profit that allows local pediatric cancer patients to create and design their own custom Nike tennis shoes. Project Outrun runs on a motto that “When you outrun cancer, it helps to have the right shoes!” An idea of empowering kids through shoes. Dream shoes. Power shoes. Custom shoes. Shoes with the kids’ favorite colors and their messages. Whatever they need to lace up everyday and Outrun fear or sickness or doubt and to get them back on their feet. Shoes to make them feel #ImNotSickButMyShoesAre and #ImTooQuickToBeSick.
