A few hundred fans came to watch the scrimmage to get a taste of what the Grizzlies have to offer this season. While Wadsworth is a member of the new version of the Suburban League, Green left the League at the end of the last school year to join the Federal League.

Wadsworth Head Coach Greg Dennison, in his 21st year at the helm of the Grizzlies, says he saw some things that he liked and some things that he didn’t like. But, that’s why scrimmages are held. Coaches are able to get an idea of what a football team does well and where improvement is needed.

“We did some things well. We also showed where we need work in certain areas” said Dennison. “Offensively, we have a lot of guys back up front, but, we have to get better getting off the ball and being a little more physical”.

Defensively, Coach Dennison said players have to get used to the system. “We missed a few too many tackles.” But, Dennison is not too worried about the missed tackles. “We’ll just keep woirking at it. It will get better. Everything that we (the coaching staff) didn’t like today are all correctable. That’s a positive. We’ll get back to work on all those things”.

During the scrimmage, Green scored two touchdowns, Wadsworth scored one on a nice run by Alex Jones.

The Grizzlies will have practice this coming Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The regular season for the Grizzlies opens at home on Friday August 28th against Ashland. Kickoff is at 7 o’clock.
