WHS CC SUPER DUALS 2015 8989While Grizzly Athletes were able to enjoy most of the Labor Day Holiday weekend, many were in action on Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL:
The Lady Grizzlies hosted their annual Tri-Meet against Brunswick and Amherst. Wadsworth came away with two victories, but it wasn’t easy.

Wadsworth defeated Brunswick 2-0. (25-21, 27-25) Freshman Kacie Evans had 13 kills and 13 digs for the Lady Grizzlies.

In the second match, Wadsworth defeated Amherst 2-1. (25-17, 21-25, 25-20)

Evans had 15 kills in the match while Jodi Johnson had 26 digs.

Wadsworth is now 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Suburban League.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY:
The Suburban League “Super Duals” were conducted on Saturday morning at Memorial Park in Wadsworth. Between the Boys and the Girls ‘duals”, Varsity, open and JV races, there were over 960 runners participating among 16 teams.

The Wadsworth Boys Cross Country team placed three runners in the Top 20. In the Varsity race, Junior Kyle Hibinger finished seventh with a time of 16:36. Senior Jon Bach finished 12th with a time of 17:05. Sophomore Nick Miller came in 16th with a time of 17:11. The race covered 5K, or about 3.1 miles.

Wadsworth was 5-2 in the Super Duals, good for third place. Hudson was first at 7-0. Twinsburg was second at 6-1.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY:
In the “Super Duals” meet, the Lady Grizzlies placed two runners in the Top 30. Sophomore Lindsay Leatherman finished 8th with a time of 20:00 for the 5K in the Varsity race. Senior Rachel Cossick finished 29th with a time of 20:51.

Wadsworth was 1-6 in the duals. Twinsburg was first at 7-0. North Royalton was second at 6-1,

BOYS SOCCER:
It was a tough afternoon for the Wadsworth Boys Soccer team on the pitch at Art Wright Stadium. Kent Roosevelt defeated Wadsworth 1-0 on a second half goal.

The next action or the Boys Soccer team is Tuesday night at Cuyahoga Falls at 7 o’clock.

GIRLS SOCCER:
Kent Roosevelt beat the Lady Grizzlies 5-3. Kent led at halftime 3-1 and the teams played even in the second half, each scoring 2 goals.

Wadsworth freshman goalie Jordan Barnhart had 8 saves . The Lady Grizzlies record on the season is 1-3-2.
