WHS CC SUPER DUALS 2015 8989The Wadsworth Boys Cross Country Team is heading to the Division One Regional Tournament on Saturday at Tiffin.

Following a third-place performance in the Division One Medina District last weekend, the Grizzlies, as a team, qualified to move on. It’s the second consecutive year that Wadsworth qualified for the regional meet.

Boys Cross Country Coach John Burton says he’s pleased with the way his first seven runners have been doing. ” I want to give recognition to Jon Bach, Kyle Hibinger, Nick Miller, Gabe Szalay, Benji House, Dean Beddow and Dylan Schwarz. These kids who are running varsity are running really well”.

Burton admits that Bach is the ‘number one’ runner and a returning state qualifier. Bach, the only senior on the team, finished fourth in the Medina race. Last year, john finished fifth in the Medina District.
Among Wadsworth’s top seven runners, six are underclassmen. Hibinger, Schwarz and Beddow are juniors, Szalay and Miller are sophomores and House is a freshman.

“For the last three weeks our runners have really been stepping up. We had a good district race. And we’re looking forward to hopefully qualifying for the state meet as a team” said Burton.

To qualify for the state cross country meet as a team, Wadsworth needs to finish among the top four schools in the Tiffin Regional. An individual can qualify tor the state meet if they are among the top 16.

Good Luck Guys!!
