Wadsworth Grizzly pawThe Wadsworth Grizzlies look to make it three wins in a row on Friday night as they host the Twinsburg Tigers at Art Wright Stadium in a Suburban League battle. Kickoff is at 7 o’clock.

It’s Homecoming night. That means plenty of alumni will be in the stands to watch the Grizzlies play. Plus, there will be plenty of special events that makes homecoming at Wadsworth High School so special.

Since losing their first four games to start the season, Wadsworth has been on a bit of a roll. They have consecutive wins against Cuyahoga Falls and North Royalton. Plus, the Grizzlies still have a chance to win the Suburban League. Their conference record is 2-1. They’re looking for help from other Suburban teams because Stow is 3-0 and Wadsworth has already lost to the Bulldogs.

The Grizzly defense has made a statement in the last two games, allowing only seven points. Last week against North Royalton, the Wadsworth defense created four turnovers.

Wadsworth still has a chance at qualifying for the OHSAA Football Championships. The Grizzlies need to win the rest of their games. After Twinsburg, Wadsworth plays at home to Brecksville-Broadview Heights, at Hudson and at Nordonia. It’s not impossible. But, the last three opponents on the Wadsworth schedule also have playoff hopes of their own.

Alex Jones was the star of last week’s game for the Grizzliers. Jones rushed for over 100 yards against Noirth Royalton, including a 93-yard touchdown run. Plus, Jones had a great game on defense.

If you cannot get to Friday night’s game at Art Wright Stadium, join us on 97.1 FM, Wadsworth Community Radio as we’ll have the play-by-play action of Grizzly Football. Our broadcast begins at 6:45 Friday night.
