It has long been a dream of Wadsworth blind golfer Mark Arnold to play in the first pan-disability Team Golf International, Phoenix Cup. And an even bigger dream to bring the main event to his hometown.

Dream number one came true when Mark’s invitation arrived in the mail to compete in this all-level event at St. Andrews in Scotland later this month. In a recent interview on Wadsworth Community Radio, we learned Wadsworth is in the final steps in dream number two coming true and Wadsworth’s Pine Valley Golf Course being the host site for the 2026 Phoenix Cup Golf International.

When Mark returns in November from the event, we should know if Wadsworth got the nod!

Mark will be competing with his coach on Team Europe. The event takes place Oct. 28-30 in Scotland.

So far, more than 880 golfers with disabilities have participated in the 30 Phoenix Cup events.

The Phoenix Cup is the world’s first fully inclusive international team event, inspired by the Ryder/Solheim Cup. Every year, disabled golf groups from around the globe come together to compete and promote the sport for amateur players of all ages with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities.
