A winner from Wadsworth says winning $1,000,000 on the Billion scratch-off was the surprise of a lifetime, and she’s excited about what she can now do for her parents.
Lisa won the $1,000,000 second-tier prize, an annuity prize of $50,000 a year for 20 years. She chose the cash option of $500,000 and after mandatory state and federal tax totaling 28 percent will receive $360,000.
She isn’t a regular Ohio Lottery player, but she had a little extra money after a jackpot win at a local racino and thought she’d give the Billion scratch-off a try. Lisa liked the odds and had some luck with smaller wins of $500 and $1,000. She used some of her winnings to get a few more tickets before winning $1,000,000.
“You don’t ever expect to win, you dream of it, but never expect it to happen! It’s the surprise of a lifetime, and I’m excited for what I can do for others. It’s not about me, it’s about what I can do for others,” Lisa said.
She said her first order of business is to buy a new car for her dad since his car is in the shop often. She also plans to use some of her winnings to help care for her mom, and she will save the rest.
Norton BP Food Mart, located at 3705 Cleveland Massillon Rd in Norton, sold the winning ticket. Lisa said she already stopped back to let the clerk know she won and that she plans to give her a little tip, too.
