Storm damage from last summer, along with the pandemic and needed repairs, shutdown the Wadsworth YMCA Grizzly pool.

On Thursday, crews finished concrete work on the pool and said it looks like June 15 – or sometime that week – the outdoor pool will reopen.

Things will look a lot different than previous seasons.

“There are new shade structures that replaced the umbrellas that broke during the July storm last year,” explained Pat Gillihan, property manager. “The deep pool with the diving board was painted in the fall, and we made repairs to some underground piping for our water features.”

Once the outdoor pool reopens, there will be new social distancing guidelines to help keep patrons and staff safe. They include a limited number for capacity so visitors are encouraged to check availability before venturing out to the pool.

“We will be offering some early bird specials for outdoor pool season pass holders.  They will have first access to the pool throughout the season.  So we encourage people to purchase their passes prior to visiting,” Gillihan said.

Passes can be purchased via phone or in person inside the Wadsworth YMCA.
