Kimberly Wonov

It was a Wonov Wednesday with Matt and Tina in the Morning. Kimberly Wonov joined the morning show via phone from Chattanooga, Tennessee and we surprised her with her mom, Ramona,  in the studio. These two ladies were quite the hoot! Kimberly was born in Wadsworth and graduated from WHS in 1979. The Wonovs are descendants of the founder of the city, Benjamin Dean.

“We are eight generations away from where we are today,” Ramona said, who reminisced about her great, great grandpa being mayor and superintendent. She also talked about how lucky she was to have lit the Blue Tip Match at the parade last year.

“It was up there with the day my kids were born and the day I got married,” Ramona said.

As for Kimberly, she has moved 16 times over the past 30 years, now working at the home office of Bright Space Senior Living. She reflected on her fond memories in Wadsworth. Kimberly loved going to school and liked most of her teachers. She played oboe and the bells in the marking band under Art Baldwin (Sarge) and couldn’t speak more highly of him.

“Sarge made me feel like a member of a group and we had so much fun. We got invited to march in a parade in Florida. We were fantastic. We were known to be professional musicians at that level,” Kimberly said. “I have enjoyed watching Wadsworth grow over my lifetime.”

It was a pleasure meeting you, Ramona, and talking with you, Kimberly! When I’m on vacation this summer, you better heckle Matt as my temporary fill-in for a day, Ramona!
