020The Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies jumped out to a 14-pint lead in the first quarter and easily defeated the Norton Lady Panthers 62-33 in an exhibition game played at Wadsworth High School Wednesday night.

The OHSAA permits this “Foundation Game” every year. Proceeds from the game were given to the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties. Over $1,400 was raised from the game.

The Lady Grizzlies scored the first six points of the game before a minute was gone in the game. Wadsworth had an 18-4 lead at the end of one quarter. It was 38-12 after the second quarter. The margin grew to 53-23 after three.

11 players scored for the Lady Grizzlies. Maria Busson led Wadsworth with 10 points. Lexi Lance added 9. Olivia Cheney and McKenna Banks added 8 points apiece.

The Lady Grizzlies start the season on Tuesday November 29th when they play at Massillon Perry at 7:30 pm. The first home game is Saturday December Third against Stow-Munroe Falls at 7:30 pm.
