The city of Wadsworth is growing in size.
At their last meeting, members of Wadsworth City Council agreed to the annexation of 53 acres of land that was formerly in Sharon Township. The land in question is located off State Road.
The property will be serviced by Wadsworth’s utilities, but residents of that property will send their children to the Highland School District. The developer can follow the zoning laws of the city of Wadsworth which allows more houses to be built per acre than Sharon Township.
The annexation request is known as a Type Two expedited annexation. Sharon Township has only 25 days to contest the issue and only for a specific reason. The Type Two annexation allows for property owners to be residents of both Wadsworth and Sharon Township. The would be responsible to pay city taxes and any levy that Sharon Township has or will pass in the future.
Current property owners are looking to construct a housing development similar to Tiberon Trace, also located off State Road on Wadsworth’s north end.
