With only one bid coming in for downtown Wadsworth’s planned “pocket park,” the city recently sent the project out for a re-bid.
“Originally, the City was hopeful the pocket park construction would be completed in September. However, the City had to adjust the project schedule as a result of the delay in receiving the design documents from the engineering firm the City contracted with for the design work. As a result, the bidding process was delayed,” explained interim Director of Public Service, Matt Hiscock.
Once the design documents were received, the City reviewed, approved and then published the bid documents with an opening set for Aug. 7.
“Unfortunately, the city received one bid and it was non-conforming and was not accepted,” Hiscock said.
As a result, he anticipates the project will be re-bid this week and will get multiple bidders. The project’s substantial completion date is now the end of October.
