Wadsworth’s special teams were extra-special last night as the Grizzlies defeated Twinsburg 38-36 as a statewide television audience watched the game from Twinsburg.
Wadsworth’s Craig Palidar blocked a Twinsburg punt that went out of the back of the end zone for a safety that put the Grizzlies ahead by 2 points with three minutes remaining in the game. The blocked punt capped off a great night for Palidar who caught three touchdown passes and a two-point conversion. In the game, Palidar, the senior wide receiver/strong safety, caught 10 passes for 219 yards.
Quarterback Joey Baughman scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run. In the game, Joey completed 19 or 30 passes for 356 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Mitchell Blackburn returned a free kick for a touchdown. That touchdown followed Wadsworth’s first safety of the game. The referees awarded the Grizzlies when the Twinsburg quarterback was called for intentional grounding in the end zone.
