The Rotary Club of Wadsworth is sponsoring the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition this year on Sunday, Sept. 13. The event will be held at Art Wright Stadium from 2 – 5 p.m.
The local competition is free and open to boys and girls from ages 6-15 and there are 5 age groups (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15) and boys and girls compete separately.
There will be 10 winners (5 boys and 5 girls) who will each get the chance to advance to the sectional competition, and ultimately compete at halftime of a Cleveland Browns game and the NFL National Finals held at an NFL playoff game in January.
All participants will receive a certificate from the NFL and winners at the local level will receive a trophy. Each participant gets 1 pass, 1 kick from a tee and 1 punt. Scores are based on distance and accuracy. The distance is measured and then distance off the center line is subtracted to get a total score. The combined scores of the punt, pass and kick will determine the winners of each age group.
The Rotary Club of Wadsworth is a group of local business leaders who have a desire to make the community around Wadsworth better. Their motto is “Service Above Self” and in addition to community service projects. They also give away scholarships to graduating high school students.
This is the second year the Wadsworth Rotary Club has hosted the event.
