It’s so easy to get travel envy this time of year. Everyone’s talking about their trips, and posting pictures on social media of amazing vacations while you’re stuck at home. But sometimes travelling can be too expensive or too stressful so we just want to stay in town. Here’s how to pamper yourself and enjoy a wonderful stay-at-home weekend:
Do schedule that boutique fitness class. Make the time to go to that spin class and enjoy that you don’t have to hurry off to anything after.
Don’t be on your cellphone. Try to disconnect as much as you can. It’ll all still be there on Monday!
Do brunch. Yes, like a verb. And you don’t have to feel guilty for having another mimosa because you burned so much off during your morning workout!
Don’t set an alarm for Sunday morning. Not much beats waking up slowly and as late as you’d like. Maybe even put on some Netflix, if you want to be super indulgent!
Do get into total vacation mode. Get in that totally relaxed place where you’re not worried about the day-to-day stress. Let your mind and body reset.
Don’t worry about what’s on your work calendar for Monday. Until you absolutely must!
Do pamper yourself. Go get a massage, get the fancy mani and pedi, or just do a face mask and put cucumbers on your eyes.
Don’t be afraid to be social. You don’t have to be alone all weekend. Get your friends together for that brunch or spend some quality time with people you might miss most of the time. Maintaining strong friendships fights off depression and boosts emotional health overall.
Do cook an amazing dinner for yourself at home (and DO include a nice glass of wine to go with it). Take the time you don’t have during your crazy busy week to plan and shop for a meal you want. Relax, unwind, cook and enjoy some vino.
Don’t assume that you know your city all that well. It doesn’t matter where you are or how long you’ve been there, there’s still something new to discover in your city. Take a bike ride or a walk and go exploring. Check out a new restaurant or a little shop you’ve never been in before.
