You’ll have the opportunity to touch plenty of trucks and a helicopter on Saturday at the 10th annual “Touch-a-Truck” event at the Key to My Father’s House Church, located at 1825 West Reimer Road in Wadsworth.

Kids of all ages will be able to touch and explore Fire Trucks, Police Cars, a video gaming truck and a bucket truck from the city of Wadsworth. Add to that, two helicopters will land on church property to allow visitors to get ‘up close and personal’ with a copter.

Debbie Scofield of the Church says ‘things have changed greatly since we started. That first year we had 5 or 6 trucks. We’ve grown to 35 trucks plus the two helicopters.”

The event is staged to bring the Wadsworth community together. “We wanted to do something that’s free for families and a lot of fun.” said Scofield. “That first year we may have had 50 to 60 people. Now, we draw 1,200 to 1,800 people for the two hours”.

“The growth has allowed us to do more thinks. Having the two helicopters land in our back field is the coolest. The ‘copters are from Akron Children’s Hospital and from University Hospital. The kids get to see them land. They can see inside the helicopters and talk with the pilots about what they do”, said Scofield.

What’s new this year is the Beachcomer Food Truck which will be providing free samples. You’ll be able to enjoy hot dogs, chips, cotton candy, a juggler, face painting and a whole lot more.

Scofield asks that if you are coming to the event to bring a canned food item. “We are supporting a local food pantry, so if you could bring a canned good that would be amazing. We want to be able to provide food for the holidays’.

“Touch-a-Truck” takes place between 10 am and 12 noon at the Key to My Father’s Church on West Reimer Road. And the price is right, its FREE.
