government officialsThere’s a lot of things for us to fear in the world we live in but it seems politicians may be the thing scaring all of us the most.

In case you missed it, a new survey of over 1,500 adults conducted by Chapman University found that out of 88 different fear options, corrupt government officials is what scares Americans the most, with 58% choosing it as their biggest fear.

America’s Top Ten Biggest Fears

  • Corruption of government officials (58.0%)
  • Cyber-terrorism (44.8%)
  • Corporate tracking of personal information (44.6%)
  • Terrorist attacks (44.4%)
  • Government tracking of personal information (41.4%)
  • Bio-warfare (40.9%)
  • Identity theft (39.6%)
  • Economic collapse (39.2%)
  • Running out of money in the future (37.4%)
  • Credit card fraud (36.9%)

And speaking of fears, it seems that a lot of us believe in things that go bump in the night. Half of all Americans say they believe in the paranormal, with 40% believing places can be haunted by spirits, and more than 25% believing the dead can communicate with the living.
