teen driving carState rules are now in effect in Ohio (effective July 1) that limit when and with whom young drivers can hit the road. Probationary-license holders in Ohio younger than 18 are not allowed to drive in vehicles with more than one person who is not a family member.

They also will be prohibited from driving without a parent or guardian between midnight and 6 a.m. unless they have documents proving it is for work, school or church.

Previously, those rules applied only to 16-year-olds. The changes are designed to keep inexperienced drivers out of unsafe driving conditions. Meanwhile, officials are trying to determine why more teens are causing crashes in Ohio this year.
