Wadsworth Community Radio

baseballIt was quite a weekend for the Wadsworth varsity baseball team. Two games were played, two shutouts were pitched. And one of the games featured a no-hitter thrown by Wadsworth pitcher Cameron Deemer.

Late Saturday night at Massillon Perry High School, the Grizzlies beat the Panthers 10-0 in a game that was called after six innings because of the run-rule. Deemer allowed three walks, hit two batters and struck out seven in pitching the no-hitter. Wadsworth scored four runs each in the second and fourth innings and single runs in the first and sixth. The offense had 13 hits in the game.

The Grizzlies record is now 13-0. Perry falls to 1-14.

On Friday afternoon, the Grizzlies blanked Lexington High School 7-0 on their home diamond.

Aaron George pitched the shutout for the Grizzlies, walking one while striking out eight. Wadsworth jumped out early in the game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Grizzlies jump back into Suburban League play this week. Tuesday and Wednesday Wadsworth takes on Nordonia. Tuesday’s game is at home while Wednesday’s game is on the road.

Wadsworth is 8-0 in the Suburban League with Nordonia, Copley and Tallmadge left to play.

Coming up on Sunday May 3rd, the sectional draw for the OHSAA Baseball Tournament will be held.
