Wadsworth Grizzly pawThe Wadsworth Boys track team had a nice showing in the State Division One Track and Field Championship held June 3rd and 4th at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.

Nine Boys represented Wadsworth at the State Championships. The Grizzlies finished in a tie for 10th place in the Division One meet. Wadsworth tallied 18 points. Also registering 18 points were Solon and Lorain High Schools.

St. Ignatius High School won the Division One meet with 52 points.

Senior Danny Malkowski finished fifth in the pole vault with a vault to 15-feet-4 inches to score 4 team points for Wadsworth. Senior Justin Pallito finished 11th with a vault of 14-feet.

The Boys 4X400 relay team finished 16th.

Wadsworth senior sprinter Matt Blamble surprised everyone with his third place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.81. Matt registered 6 team points for Wadsworth for his effort. In the 100-meter dash, Matt finished 9th with a time of 11.20

In the Boys 1600-meter run, sophomore Nick Miller finished 6th in a time of 4:14.11 to score 3 points for Wadsworth. Sophomore Gabe Szalay finished 9th in a time of 4:15.58.

And in the 4X800 meter relay, the team of sophomore Nick Miller, junior Matt Galek, senior Zach Moskos and sophomore Gabe Szalay finished 4th in a time of 7:44.66. That effort put 5 points on the scoreboard for the Grizzlies.
