The Wadsworth Police Department’s K-9 officer is getting new equipment designed to keep Zoro safe.

Thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization “Vested Interest in K9s”, Zoro will receive a bullet and stab protected vest. Zoro’s vest is sponsored by Lorie Tygard of Wadsworth and will be embroidered with the sentiment “with gratitude to those who protect and serve”.

Zoro will receive its vest in 8-to-10 weeks.

During the month of April, Zoro and his handler Officer Seth Petit were named as Officers of the month by the Wadsworth Police Department. Zoro wad added to the Wadsworth Police Department force in November 2016. Zoro and Officer Petit are assigned to the Patrol Division and work various shifts.

Zoro is trained in narcotic detection, tracking, article search, handler protection and suspect apprehension.
